In 15 the Governor supports the University's request that the British Council should be asked to assume responsibility for the salaries of 2 lecturers in connection with the training of teachers. This would probably mean to the extent of at least £2,000 a year..

As I read the enclosure to 15 the vice- Chancellor's arguments are:-

(1) that the University is now required to train more than the 628 teachers for schools in the Colony which it did before the war.

(2) that this will necessitate increased staff namely an additional lecturer and junior lecturer.

(3) that more attention must be given to the training of teachers of English and to

/ teaching
